Captain of Vessel:
Abram Tannar
First Mate of Vessel:
Doyle Smithe
Name of Ship:
The Mutineer, formerly HMS Darling. She was once a sleek brig like the HMS Interceptor, although never as highly regarded. She is also an aged vessel and somewhat roughened by her years at sea––very much like her captain. Although speedy, the Mutineer certainly is not the fleetest ship in the Caribbean waters and likely for lack of a knowledgeable carpenter to keep her in shape.
Since the mutiny from which she takes her name, she has been repainted and modified to disguise her past existence––although these days the paint has begun to fray where her new christening was painted. To the eye that cares to look, a glance will show the tell-tale snippets of "HMS Darling" painted in dear strokes of gold at the crest of her hull.
Allegiance:
The Mutineer is cautiously captained as a neutral vessel, though most would brandish her as a pirate vessel. After breaking ties with the Navy, the Mutineer and her crew engaged in the smuggling business, a decision pointedly made by her new captain to avoid a mutiny. Under Abram's command, the Mutineer purchases her wares legally and then seeks buyers who sell them as they please––and often illegally. Technically his practice is just as illegal as theirs, but it spares him and his crew from resorting to activities associated with full-fledged pirates.
Until lately, smuggling in most Caribbeaan ports was very lucrative activity for the Mutineer and her crew as the EITC set up several bans and taxes that put off many merchants. This was especially good for Abram, because it meant he was able to pay his crew and handsomely enough that some of the more rebellious knaves left his crew without qualm. Now that the EITC has removed itself from the Caribbean, business has drained considerably and Abram has put in to Tortuga to improve the morale of his crew and to determine in which ports he will profit.
The entire crew of the Mutineer are wanted by the Royal Navy to be disciplined for their actions against the Crown. Abram himself has a bounty over his head and is sentenced to hang for his leadership in the mutiny.
Some of his crew are pirates that Abram has signed on during respites in pirate havens like Tortuga and are not included in this sentence. Doyle Smithe is one such man; his knowledge of the seas, his ability to connect with the more rascal of Abram's men and the man's jovial nature has made Doyle indispensible to the captain over the past year.
Number of Available Crew Positions:
I'll allow for 2 more in addition to Doyle, although maybe only one more... depending.
