Name: Anamaria (Carter)
Age: 30
Gender: Female
Allegiance: Pirate
Occupation: Anamaria is between ships at the moment. Although she has been a captain, a first and second mate, as well as a Quartermaster.
Weapon of Choice: Anamaria is a skilled fighter, but she is most comfortable when she has a sword in her hand. She is light on her feet, and uses it to her advantage. Anamaria is also a fair shot with a pistol, but it certainly is not her strong suit.
Home Town/Island: Currently Anamaria is residing in Tortuga. However, she was born in Basse-Pointe.
Ship: Anamaria is not bound to any ship a the moment. Her last ship was damaged beyond repair costs that she could afford, so she left it to the Quartermaster to do what he pleased with it. She feels it would be much more economical for her if she could join another crew.
Appearance: Anamaria is plain looking, put simply. However, her plain features allow her to be able to pass off as a man. This ability has proven to be an incredibly useful skill.
Physically, Anamaria is fairly tall for a woman reaching a comfortable 5'8. Her broad shoulders seem a little bit out of place on her otherwise small frame. At first glance she appears lanky, but Anamaria does have a fair amount of muscle from many years at sea.
Despite much advice given to Anamaria to cut her long hair, she can't seem to part with the past shoulder length dark locks, an old bandanna or piece of cloth tied around her forehead helps keep said hair out of her face. Generally when Anamaria goes into town she tucks her hair into a wide brimmed hat as to better hide her gender. Too match with her hair Anamaria has eyes that are nearly black, and her skin is a light shade of mocha.
Anamaria's dress usually consists of an old once-white t-shirt, that since it's beginning days has turned gray with gunpowder, dirt, and sweat. She also wears a pair of faded hunger green pants. Since Anamaria became a captain of a larger ship she acquired a navy blue vest, and coat, and while she's not a captain at the moment she doesn't want to lose her more “refined” look.
Personality: Anamaria has a fiery personality, and a quick wit. Both of these two traits stem from her need to appear 'tough' to the men, because of much prejudice she has faced in her life both for the color of her skin and her gender. She's had to work harder to be taken seriously than any man, and in her eyes she deserves more credit than any man.
However, despite her desire for recognition she would rather blend into the shadows until the situation calls for her to stand out. When that time comes though she'll shine, and be remembered.
Anamaria is a proud woman, and this pride is hurt easily. Insulting her pride is a risky business, quite like a game of Russian Roulette, sometimes she can take the insult other times her temper gets the best of her. One thing about Anamaria though, is she doesn't pick fights that she knows she can't win. On rare occasions though she misjudges herself, and her opponents.
Anamaria rarely forgives, and she never forgets.
History: Anamaria' father was a wealthy plantation owner, her mother was a slave who worked in the household. For the first sixteen years of her life Anamaria never knew who her father was, but she assumed it was the same man who was the father of her two sisters. When she discovered the truth about who her father actually was she planned to escape the plantation, she was disgusted that she was a slave in her father's own household.
Three weeks before her seventeenth birthday, in old stolen work clothes, she managed to find a place as a cabin boy on a pirate ship. She climbed up the ranks quickly on the ship, and by the time she was 21 she was serving as a 2nd mate. Unfortunately, the men were starting to become suspicious, she was surprised she had kept them unaware for as long as she did. Tortuga was their next stop, and there she took her leave.
Tortuga was Anamaria's home for nearly a year, she had worked as a barmaid during that time. She talked to sailors, hoping one day that somebody would come along looking for a crew that she could join. Anamaria longed for the sea. Again disguised as a man she managed to get on board a small fishing boat with a drunk captain. The business was profitable, and she made enough to buy her own very small fishing boat the Jolly Mon.
The Jolly Mon was a single person vessel, she decided to fish, for there was profit in it. For four years, during the day she would go out and fish, once she came back to Port she'd sell it to a man who would then in turn sell the fish at market. Until one day her source of profit was gone, her small boat had been stolen and she knew it was by a certain Jack Sparrow. Now having nothing, she managed to work of a fare to Tortuga again looking for something to do with her life.
That's when she was approached to join a crew that would be captained by Jack Sparrow she jumped at the opportunity. She would get what was hers back. She went along with Jack Sparrow hoping that she would get what had been promised to her, until of course it exploded. That's when she decided that she'd be loyal to Jack for the time being.
Soon after a time came when she decided that she would leave Jack, and join another crew as she had been given an offer by an old friend that she had been recently reacquainted with. Said friend was killed during a fight, and she took over as captain. Not long after they found themselves in a horrible sudden storm, with repairs beyond her reach she left the ship. She simply didn't have the money to repair it, so she left it in the hands of the Quartermaster.
Other: So, the whole slave thing is stereotypical I know, but she's rather light so I took the liberty in assuming that she was a 'mixed' child. Plus 'common' beginning for an uncommon character.
