Name: Autre Roslyn Destler, also known as “Ross”
Age: 24 years of age
Gender: Female
Allegiance: Pirate
Occupation: Captain
Weapon of choice: Cutlass (Swordsmanship)
Home Town/Island: Born in Paris, France. Raised in London. And home? Not really sure at the moment.
Ship: Voleur d’or (In English, Thief of Gold), a sloop
Appearance: Stand about 5’6” in height, weight is not important. Down right to rude to ask of a lady anyways. Blue-green eyes that rival the color of the sea itself. Light brown hair which is usually pinned back under a red bandana. If it was to be let down, it would hang in ringlets. While on shore, Autre wears normal lady’s clothes. Buckled high-heeled shoes, skirt and all that sort of thing. However on the seas, the dress is exchanged for a looser black shirt made of a light material, and dark tan colored britches. The uncomfortable shoes were changed for beaten, leather boots.
Personality: Ross rarely shows emotion in public, but in private, she tends to be more open with those she trusts. However, the young woman an easy-going sort, letting very little to annoy her. Although there are times where the captain can come off as rude but she is a pirate, why should she behave any other way?
History: Autre is the daughter of one of Lord Swann’s servants and a pirate who stole the heart of the poor, young lass. Her mother died of illness in London when Autre was 14, and the young orphan was to be brought over with the newly appointed Governor of Port Royal to serve him in the Caribbean. However, Autre ran from his lordship’s’ home a few nights before the morning of the departure. She stole away on another ship bound for the Caribbean islands because there was nothing left for her in Europe. Only opportunity lay before her in the new world. It was a long journey, especially having to cover up her gender by playing the role of a young man by the name of Ross. It would so happen that the merchant trade ship she was on was attacked by pirates whom offered that ‘Ross’ go on account with them. Considering the fatal consequence of denying it, she went on board with one old Captain Titus Helquist. After almost nine years before the mast, Helquist appointed Ross as his successor as Captain of the Voleur d’or. Many of the crew protested a woman as captain, but few dared leave. They had learned of Ross’s secret several years earlier (but on threat of death, did not argue the reasons of her staying on board). During an encounter with the East Indian Trading, Helquist was murdered in order for his crew to escape. Now with Ross as captain, they rest in Tortuga in hiding. Ross runs a tavern by the name of The Renard Doré for now, waiting for the right moment to come along to return to the world of piracy.
Other: The crew of the Voleur d’or takes care of a small black and white female kitten that one of the pirates found hiding out behind a bar in Tortuga. It goes by the name of Bianca.
Roleplay Sample: The salty scent of the sea hung over the town of Tortuga, mixing with the smell of spilled rum and other drink left in the streets after another rowdy night. This was truly a town that never slept. People were still dragging themselves up off the floors of taverns. Bar maids cleaned up the broken glass, gingerly grabbing the pieces lest they be cut by the shards and stepping over those drunks groggily getting up.
In one of these dark dens, one by name of The Renard Doré, a host of men still lingered. Obviously pirates, but who wasn’t one here in Tortuga? An amused chuckle came from the group as one of the drunk bar patrons tried picking a fight with another man.
“Shall we toss ‘em, cap’n?” One of the men said, looking to a young woman standing behind. She looked thoughtful for a moment, then nodded her head slightly.
“Might as well. I don’t need anything else broken in here.” Her voice carried an amused tone in it when she spoke. It also had another sound to it. Most could not place it, merely saying it was an attractive voice to listen to. Only one had ever given it a better description. Her late captain said her voice was like listening to the jingle of coins in a velvet bag. At the time, his words made young Autre Roslyn laugh but now… he might had been right.
