Has anyone seen it yet? I know I have! before I go on, there will undoubtedly be spoilers ahead for anyone who has -yet- to see it. So if you don't want to know anything about the movie, don't continue reading in this thread. Ha.
I don't have much to say about it. I loved it thoroughly, but I figure the less I write the more likely it will be that people read and respond.
Bam.
Sam:
Shia was good in this movie. Surprisingly so. I enjoyed his acting, improv and comedy. It was nice to see someone from the Disney channel actually doing some good, 'grown up' work.
Bumblebee:
My favorite robot in the whole damn movie. In fact, he's been my favorite transformer for years, and I'm really excited that he has so big a role in the movie. I love the scene where you first see him, and he kicks the shit out of that Bug. Hahaha. That's what they get for not allowing them to use that car as his car form.
He was so sweet, though. And I felt so -bad- for him when he was captured, and all he wanted to do was protect Sam. It's so lame, but the relationship they built between Sam and Bumblebee was so strong and adorable, there was no way they could have had the two separate by the end of the film. Bumblebee had some great comedic moments. He was just awesome.
Optimus Prime:
Fuck. Yeah. Original voice. And his personality was great! I fell in love with him. When he stepped on the fountain and said 'my bad' I was completely hooked on him. He was hilarious, without losing his 'Leader of the Autobots' command. And did you see the badass way he killed that Decepticon on the bridge? Hell yeah! He had some priceless lines that were direct references to the 'good old days' of the comic and cartoon, and that just made me warm on the inside.
Megatron:
Not in it as much as I would have liked. BUT. Badass. Totally badass. The way he swooped in like a hawk and smashed Jazz beneath his feet, then ripped the poor Autobot in two was awesome. Though. Did it have to be Jazz? I've always been a Jazz fan. I would not have been torn if Ratchet or Ironhide had gotten ripped in half. But no. Jazz dies and Bumblebee gets his legs crushed. Why the ones I love?
How cool is it that all our technological advances have been from reverse engineering something from Megatron? Pretty cool.
Anyway. Every single one of Megatron's few lines is wonderful in its own way. Hugo Weaving was a nice choice for his voice. It's a shame we didn't get to see more of his jet form, considering it was so strange and spacelike. He crashed on Earth before he had a chance to find a suitable disguise, so this form had to have been some sort of alien ship from some other world he explored for the Cube. No real backstory there, I'm just assuming. I just wanted to see it close up, like we got to with all the Autobots.
Starscream:
How awesome was he? He had one of the best moments in the entire film. If you're a nerd like I am, anyway. He swoops in and lands on the Hoover Dam, Megatron just breaking free of the place he has been so long frozen. Starscream lands and says 'I live to serve you, Megatron'. If you know anything about the original story lines concerning these two, you know that this is SO FAR from the truth it's hilarious. Starscream is constantly trying to take over the Decepticons, and the sarcasm in his voice is priceless. Megatron returning with something like 'You fail me again, Starscream' just seals the deal, really. Loved it. Awesome writing.
Did anyone see in the credits, when he flew off? I knew he hadn't died in that epic battle, and I'm glad they didn't leave that hanging. Though... what happened to Scorpinok? The X-bot, Car Wheel-bot and Mountain Dew-bot that the Cube created?
And there was a lot more awesome in this movie that I haven't even touched on yet. Those are just my favorites. Hahaha.
