You know, ever since the end of the third movie I've been wondering seriously: If Will Turner is now the Captain of the Flying Dutchman, wouldn't it now be called Will Turner's Locker as opposed to Davy Jones' locker?
I've talked it over with my friends, and they seem to wonder the same thing. However, generally it's been said that because it's been known as Davy Jones' locker so long, it should stay that way. But even within context of the Pirates movies, technically it should bear William's name in my opinion. What do you think?

Well, let us refer to the Princess Bride: Westley does not become "The Dread Pirate Westley". He assumes the title of the "The Dread Pirate Roberts". That coupled with the fact that Davy Jones' Locker is deeply embedded into sailor 'mythology' serves as my reason for it not changing names.

I actually don't think the Locker is part of the job. I think that, strictly movie talking, was Davy Jones abusing his power, since he uses it as his bargaining tool. He should ferry souls to the afterlife, not decide to torture them in the locker. As Tia Dalma explains, being in the locker is not the same as being dead. So, no. I think it's still, and always will be, Davy Jones' locker.

Good point. Now that you put it that way, I am entirely in agreement. I'd forgotten what Tia had said about the Locker... nevermind Jack being eaten by the Kraken...

Oh yeah. I kind of forgot that Davy Jones' locker was all about Davy Jones being a bad boy. But then again, it's kind of a good thing in that case, because if he had just ferried the souls, Jack would have been dead meat. Unrevivable dead meat, in that case.
